Leland E. Finholm (Lee) was raised in Cloquet, Minnesota, graduated from Cloquet High School and attended University of Minnesota, Duluth. He served in the U.S. Navy, trained in the nuclear propulsion program as a mechanical operator, an Engineering Laboratory Technician and a Career Counselor/Recruiter.

Lee was married to Elizabeth (Betty Jo) until her death in December 2004 and has four children; Paul, Nichole, Leanne and Jeffery; and currently has seven grandchildren.

Lee started working for Northern Sates Power Company (ExcelEnergy/Nuclear Management Company) in 1971 as a Coal and Ash Handler at the Riverside Steam Plant in Minneapolis. In mid-1971, Lee was transferred to the Operations Department at the Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant (PINGP) in Red Wing, Minnesota where he obtained a Minnesota Stationary Chief Class A Engineer License, a Nuclear Regulatory Commission Reactor Operator License and a Nuclear Regulatory Commission Senior Reactor Operator License.

Lee has had the following work experiences at PINGP: Control Room Lead Plant Equipment and Reactor Operator, Training Supervisor, Full-Scale Control Room Simulator Supervisor, Nuclear Training Administrator, and Emergency Preparedness Coordinator. Lee retired from the Nuclear Management Company in February 2004.

Lee became a Rotarian in 1986 as a Charter Member to the Red Wing Rotary Club with the classification of Electric Power Generation. He was Club President in 1989 - 1990. He has held many positions within his club. In District 5960 he has acted as Chair of the Group Study Exchange Committee, Foundation Information, and Interact.  H was also Co-Chair of The Rotary Foundation Alumni and Vocational Service Director.  He has been active with the Rotary Youth Exchange Program, Governor Advisory Council, Ambassadorial Scholarship Committee, Peace Scholarship Committee and World Community Service Committee.  Lee was an Assistant Governor in 1998-1999 and a GSE Team member of an all Rotarian GSE Team to Mongolia in 1999.

Lee is a member of the Fairview Red Wing Health Services Board of Directors, Red Wing Sister Cities Commission, Boy Scouts of America - Gamehaven Council, Hiawatha Amateur Radio Club, Burnson-Lillyblad VFW Post 1218, Hiawatha Valley Toastmasters Club, and Goodhue County Red Cross Building Committee.

Lee has served as a member and president of the Northern States Red Wing Credit Union Board of Directors, was president of the Red Wing Figure Skating Club, chairperson of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church Building Addition Committee, and chair of the Pastor Call Committee.

Lee enjoys traveling, working with computers, amateur radio, woodworking, cooking, and spending time with his family.
