District Grants Subcommittee Background Information:
District Grants Subcommittee (formerly World Community Service) is an aspect of International Service that promotes community development and goodwill on a global scale. Through DGS, Rotarians conduct projects to improve lives and meet human needs, and thus promote international understanding and goodwill by means of material, technical, and professional assistance. This program links club and district resources with Rotarians abroad via a service project, such as a literacy campaign or a village agricultural improvement scheme that makes life a little better in the receiving country.

Rotarians work on many fronts to help people gain access to health care, build supportive environments, and learn to make healthy choices.  The poor especially need the resources Rotarians can provide.  From sponsoring eye and limb camps in developing countries to providing surgery for children with congenital defects and building and equipping medical institutions, Rotary clubs have never ceased their efforts to ease suffering and provide life-sustaining care to millions of people.
