Public Image, Public Relations and Communications

It's important to understand the distinction between these three important activities when thinking about how they contribute to Rotary's success.

  • Public Image: The ideas and opinions the public has about a person or an organization that may or may not be what they are really like.
  •  Public Relations: A strategic communication process that builds mutually beneficial relationships between organizations and their publics.
  • Communications: The act or process of using words, sounds, signs or behaviors to express or exchange information or to express your ideas, thoughts, feelings, etc. to someone else.
Effective public relations raises a club's or district's profile among other Rotarians and within the community making it easier for Rotarians to garner non-Rotarian support and raise support for Rotary projects.

Public Image, Public Relations and Communications directly support retention and attraction of new members.
