Rotary District 5960 Global Grant Fellowship/Scholarship

Applications due Fall 2022

For Academic Studies Beginning Fall 2023

The fellowship/scholarship opportunity is all about funding for graduate school for one student from our local Rotary District 5960 area who wants to pursue a master’s degree in one of Rotary's seven areas of focus at a university overseas.
 
Applications are available online at www.rotary5960.org (see "Application Document" on the left-hand menu of the web page). Applications are due to Gary Campbell, Global Scholar Team Leader, by October 21, 2022, and interviews will be virtual on November 12, 2022via ZoomTime TBD, (applicants MUST be available for interviews). International processing of the applications will take place in Winter/Spring 2023 for academic studies beginning in Fall 2023.

Global grants must relate to one or more of the seven areas of Rotary focus, have a long-term impact, and must be for a graduate-level program. See the Areas of Focus Policy Statements document for more information.
 
Academic Studies must be at an accredited university outside of the United States and U.S. Territories.
 
 Global grants must be sustainable and measurable (How will the scholar's studies support one or more of Rotary’s Seven Areas of Focus?) The global grant scholarship/fellowship is $35,000.

  •          Disease prevention and treatment 
  •          Water and sanitation 
  •          Maternal and child health 
  •          Basic education and literacy 
  •          Economic and community development
  •          Environment
 
Global Grant Fellowships (Scholarship) fund studies for a period of one to four academic years in graduate-level programs.
 
Scholarship funds may be used for tuition, room and board, books, travel expenses, visas, inoculations, as well as any humanitarian projects the club or district has planned that relate to the scholar’s studies.

  • Estimated budget
  • Proposed humanitarian project in the host district (optional)
  • Current transcript
  • Foreign language proficiency exam results (if needed)
  • Detailed budget 
Complete information regarding:
  1. The scholar's program of study relating to the selected area of focus.
  2. The educational and professional goals of the scholar and how the scholarship will help to advance these goals.
  3. How the scholar will use his/her education to address a need on a long-term basis in his/her hosting and/or international sponsoring community.
Scholar may NOT be (1) a Rotarian; (2) an employee of a club, district, or other Rotary entity, or of Rotary International; (3) the spouse, a lineal descendant (child or grandchild by blood or stepchild legally adopted or not), the spouse of a lineal descendant, or an ancestor (parent or grandparent by blood) of any person in the foregoing two categories.
