District 5960 Rotarians - Welcome to our February edition of "Around the District!" Click the link below to view it.
February - a wonderful mishmash of good and bad. It's cold, it's really cold but it's short. Someone recently asked me why the shortest month of the year felt like the longest. After seeing the forecast for -21 degrees on Feb 3rd. I completely understand that question. But there is a lot of good - it's Birkie month for those in northern Wisconsin, we have President's Day, and we have Valentine's Day (even if that means you are sending flowers to yourself) But here is the best part......it's Share the Love Month. A month of looking at our Rotary Foundation and celebrating all the good it allows us to do in the world and all the lives we positively impact. Of course, the key is remembering that it's not The Rotary Foundation but Our Rotary Foundation. It only exists because of the money we donate. No donations, no grants, fewer impacted lives. So please, go back and read again the email sent out from the district concerning the Share the Love Campaign, open up your hearts and wallets, and donate. Together we can do amazing things.
Imagine! 2023 is the first-ever Tri-District Conference for Rotarians and Rotaractors from International Districts 5580, 5950, and 5960. Pack your bags and prepare for an engaging weekend filled with education, camaraderie, celebration, inspiration, personal growth, and fun!
Participating in this one-of-a-kind event will make your club measurably stronger, healthier, and happier in the coming year. Your ticket gives you full access to the entire conference, and guests are invited to participate fully.
District 5960’s planning for 2023 Camp RYLA is well underway. Camp RYLA takes place on April 21-25, 2023, at YMCA Camp St. Croix in Hudson, Wisconsin. Clubs must register their sponsorship level at: https://campryla.org/participants/rotary-club-registration/. Please reach out to your local school (public and private) to recruit students. Ideally, clubs will verify sponsorship with any local students before student applications. See attached flyer for distribution to schools.

EMPOWERING GIRLS
Calling out our theme to Imagine Opportunities, the District Literacy Team joins in a Call to Action by encouraging clubs to visualize and plan local or global projects that can play a role in improving quality of life for girls. Recent Past RI President Shekhar Mehta said it succinctly in Rotary Magazine, “Every step we take to improve education, health care, and economic opportunities for girls makes an important difference in helping them achieve their full potential.” The avenues for accomplishing this are many - - and all so important. Getting started is often the biggest step.
