Cathy Smith,
District 5960 Governor, 2003-2004
 
Past District Governor Cathy Smith of the Rotary Club of Fridley/Columbia Heights has been a Rotarian since 1989. 
 
In addition to remaining active within her own district, where she serves on the Facilitation Committee, Cathy has worked on a joint District (5950) Committee to bring ethics to school districts in Minnesota and Wisconsin.  She has been very active with the District to help develop a District wide project in Nicaragua to be modeled after the UN Millennium project.  Cathy was a training leader at the International Assembly held in San Diego, CA in 2006 and 2007.   Cathy has been active with other Districts training Vision Facilitation teams to do long range planning for their clubs.  She has been a GETS trainer at the Zone 27/28 Institute twice.  She has participated on panel presentations both at the Rotary International Convention as well as the Zone Institute. Cathy was the Co-Chair of the Zone 28-29 Rotary Zone Institute in 2011. 
 
Cathy is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow and a member of The Rotary Foundation's Bequest Society for benefactors.  Cathy has participated in GSE Team selection and both Peace and Ambassadorial Scholar selection multiple times.  She has participated in 3 Foundation Grants to do capacity building in Accra, Ghana.
 
Cathy spent 38 years working in the commercial roofing industry, currently as Vice President of BL Dalsin Roofing.
 
Cathy is single and lives with her cats Max, Roxie, and Calli.  She has been a very active aunt to 11 nieces and nephews as well as a host parent to three Rotary Youth Exchange students (Northern Ireland, Norway, and Poland).  In her spare time (what spare time?) she enjoys athletic training, cooking and baking, biking, travel, and reading.
